Who is Johnny N. Mata?

Johnny N Mata, is a legend!

He has fought for civil rights for decades. At 86 years young, Johnny N Mata continues to be recognized as a living Hispanic Civil Rights advocate and leader since the tragic Jose Campos Torres drowning on May 5, 1977, while under the care and custody of a few unscrupulous Houston Police Officers.  Under the umbrella of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens), a Hispanic  Civil Rights organization established February 17, 1929.  Under the leadership of Mamie Garcia as LULAC District 8 Director in 1977, Johnny was appointed as LULAC District 8's Civil Rights Director.    Since then through the present day, Johnny N Mata continues to effectively advocate social injustices predominately against members of the Hispanic Community within Judicial, Economic, Academic, and Political arenas for almost 50 years.  Presently, Johnny N Mata, continues to serve as Director, Greater Houston Coalition for Justice, a diversified civic and social organization addressing today's inequities and advocating economic and social programs.

At approximately 5'1" in size, Johnny N Mata teaches us that dynamic leaders do come in small packages.  Ponce de Leon and Arevalo Insurance Agency are so honored to serve Johnny's insurance needs as he continues to serve our communities!
